James De La Vega

Black construction paper and white chalk are the materials utilized for a thematic piece on religion by this visual artist.  The piece, like the Encuentro and its participants, changes over the course of the event.

James De La Vega is a Nuyorican artist who both lives and owns a small art gallery in East Harlem. His murals and sidewalk chalkings serve to intervene in both the creation and contestation of a Latino ethnoscape in East Harlem.
