Bio
Catherine Reiland is a graduate student of Latin American and Caribbean Studies at New York University. She is currently researching how Guatemalan nationalism is negotiated within the performance of religious processions. Later this summer she will return to Guatemala to investigate how post-World War II touristic visual cultures shape nationalistic discourse in Guatemala.
Before arriving at NYU in 2007, Catherine worked with numerous faculty, staff, and students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison to design and organize the award-winning World Languages Day and other K-12 outreach programs to promote the study of language, literature, and culture.
